Disappointing announcement alert: because of the torrential rain we’ve had (and are continuing to have) in New York lately, the location where my scene was to have been filmed (note: “to have been”) is flooded, so the shoot is postponed, which means I’ll be back in London by the time it’s dry enough to shoot. No cameo role for me.

In the balance against the total, utter amazingness of my film being made, by such a brilliant crew, with such an amazing cast, and with me being here to see it, this is a pretty small matter. And having watched (and continuing to watch) the rain chuck it down, I’m not all that surprised. And I am British. Stoicism in the face of weather-based disappointment is what we do. You might say that I have trained my whole life for this.

Still, I’m gutted. So there’s only one thing for it: write another book, get it made into a film, be in that one. And make sure that my part is filmed indoors.
